Tulsa Story :This is a video pictorial of the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 15, 1957 as a time capsule. It was uncovered 50 years later on June 15, 2007. I was hoping to see a pristine version of “Miss Belvedere”, but as it turned out, the vault leaked and filled with water, causing significantly harm to the automobile. As a automobile enthusiast, I watched the story create over the past few years. I waited and watched it live on the internet as she was extracted from the ground. When I saw the rust-colored dirt and muck on her, I had a negative feeling about her condition. I wish the person who won this automobile (by guessing the closest to the town’s actual 2007 population back in 1957) could have it restored, but that would be a huge undertaking. On the other hand, she must get a opportunity to dance again! I hope you enjoy the video, along with some prior to, in the course of, and soon after photographs. update the winner of this vehicle was Raymond Humbertson died in 1979 he was Marine and a Korean War veteran he has two sisters who might inherit he automobile Thanks, Chris Miss Belvedere Moves On By Old Automobiles Weekly Following spending practically 50 years quietly rusting beneath the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn, the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere affectionately identified as “Miss Belvedere,” is on the road once again. Do not get too excited, when she rolled out of Tulsa earlier today, it wasn’t under her own power—she was whisked out of town in the back of a truck. Following months of legal wrangling to establish ownership …

@ronniepage
I think GM should do some revisions with their cars. Sure it’d be great to have a Grand National, but wouldn’t it be great to have a Monte Carlo, Cutlass and Grand Prix too? Back then Those cars shared a lot of the same designs but each had it’s own personality, Somehow the 90′s managed to lose the charisma that went with the cars. I mean the Viper pulled it off, but aside from that what else was there? The muscle car revival wasn’t as special as it could’ve been.
@hemiram04
It was a GM mandate. You can thank GM for discontinuing the 1981 – 1987 G-body Front engine rear wheel drive automobile line. For some reason they thought people wanted ugly clunky front wheel drive 4 cylinder economy cars, I’m not saying they’re bad, but its sad that these were the last of the real mid-sized muscle car era (Yes I know that the trans am’s and camaros were still produced, but those were pony cars) Anyway, it’s a shame that they stopped v8 & v6 RWD coupes in 1987..
awesome car!!
if you think about it, know one has really beat this car, and im comparing 1987 to 2011, i know we have powerful cars , but back in 84, you just didnt mess with this and the syclone and the typhoon, we had it all(gm), and it was faster the corvette
Just saying but…. 1:41 How come they had CRT Monitors in 1987?
the last true muscle car
@hemiram04 They stopped production of it because Buick changed platforms from rear to front wheel drive because GM wanted them to “modernize” the car line up. The Grand National and GNX wouldn’t work with front wheel drive – so they had to stop production, but not by choice. It’s all in an interview with one of the Grand Nationals designers, it’s here on Youtube in 3 parts called “Grand National and GNX history”.
@hondahp18 I have one sitting in my driveway.. My dad owns one
Buick needs to revive it just like Ford, Dodge and Chevy have done with their old muscles
This is my dream classic car, because We’re pretty much the same age
omg
i wish they still made them! fuck i want one. how i love my American cars
this car feautres in GTA SAN ANDREAS my favourite car in the game by far, they are so sexy, no thats not the right word, just sensational.
@hondahp18 only for the 1987 gnx, there the most rare
@hobbes110 Howdi, do you mean the Chevy 350 or Buick 350? Handy info. to have lad, thanks for posting
@stl314scorpio I think Ford is a contender with their ecoboost V6 and soon to be released ecoboost I4. GM has had success with the 2.0L ecotec as well with both supercharging and now turbo. Even buick has a turbo 4 banger now.
Great review for a great car! One error, however. The Syclones and Typhoons did not have the Buick V6. They were a turbocharged early variant of the 4.3 Vortech and they had a liquid intercooler system.
@stl314scorpio Contender?
@stl314scorpio Contender? Where’s your Corvette, the best value hands down for performance of ANY car. Where’s your SS Camaro, SRT Challenger? Shelby Mustang. How about a plain old Mustang GT with 400 hp, no turbo OR supercharger.
Know what you are talking about or shut the fuck up.
“as the Buick image was redirected to plush comfort for senior citizens”…boy, ain’t that the truth. There’s been nothing like it since.
@armybrat7643 Did you read the first comment? A museum purchased the car from the owners for $500,000.
Slight rust and corrosion, outher wise a daily driver. 1500 obo
t-cut and it will be fine tbh
Is the Paint still under warranty?
just needs some tdc
wow
So american. Ignorant optimists.
It would have been a lot nicer if they had just left it on the courthouse lawn for 50 years!
so sad ,poor car,my mom and dad were going to college together in tulsa and actually went to see this car being put in the ground,my mom died in 03 but my dad was still alive when they pulled the belvedere out,as a guy majoring in geology at the time and later graduating in 59 he pretty much knew what it was gonna look like before they pulled it out
Should’ve put some type of shed over the area to make the rain run away. Maybe even an closed shed built on top.
Thumbs up if you notived the comma after the the 2 in the 2007.
best laid plans of man and mice. They did not plan for the unpredictable.
Go see:
“Arrest of George W. Bush, soon”

Its a shame they did not think about putting the ’57 in above ground vault and lock it shut .

@Skoda130 HAHA…I know
@raba3e Looks pretty rotten..
@Skoda130 They want to show the world how they were and lived in Tulsa in 1957
Why did they bury this car??
the Titanic is in better shape!
Whose was that smart idea?
Isn’t it cool to think that for 50years that car was burried under there. Throughout all the different things that were happening in the world. Music, Space, War, Styles, Technology, and the list goes on…. Wow, I would have loved to have been there when they brought her up… Thats just awesome.
